Day 13: Self Image

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm 139: 13-14)

Too often, our self-image comes from what others have said about us or from our performance in various life roles. Men in particular are encouraged to view themselves as professionals, husbands, and fathers first and to equate their value with their performance in those roles. Viewing ourselves through a faulty lens distorts our self-image and makes us prone to overestimating or underestimating our worth. Seeing ourselves as God sees us, on the other hand, means knowing we are made in His image and that He valued us enough to die for us. It means giving God full credit for His workmanship and offering Him gratitude for His abundant love and grace.

Today's Prayer Guide:
* Pray that the men in our lives will know that they are God’s workmanship, created in God’s image, fearfully and wonderfully made for God’s purpose and pleasure.
* Pray that these men will not see themselves through the distorted lens of public opinion or performance but will be humbly grateful for the unique qualities God has placed in them.
* Pray that our husbands, brothers, fathers, and sons will understand who they really are by understanding who God really is, growing to know Him more and more each day.
* Pray that we will see the fingerprint of God upon the men in our lives, praising God for His workmanship and not imposing our own spoken or unspoken standards upon the work of God’s hands.
